Kakai just lost her other front tooth. We talked with the principal at her school yesterday and we feel so much better about her education. We will go ahead and finish up the first grade stuff we started in Montana (home school). We have about 10 more weeks left. This will put us just in time to start second grade home school. We still need to purchase second grade materials from Sonlight.
She already had her break so she will be ready to keep going. She will then begin school here to see how it goes. She will be joining their first grade class so she will know the stuff but just get used to the place. Their school year has different breaks than ours so they are in the last semester of the school year here. She will go full time to second grade in earnest beginning in February (that's when their school year starts here). Our plan is tentative so we will have to wait and see how it goes. But her principal is so great. She used to teach in an international school and now she is at Bush Fire. Also, they teach in English here beginning in first grade. Some schools wait until third or fourth grade. So that makes us feel better too. We'll keep you posted how it all goes.
Thanks so much for keeping in touch to all of you who have been emailing, texting, calling. It mans so much to us. When I go to update the website and I see the blog has received over 140 hits it makes me feel so good that you are out there. Your friendship is so important to us and that flourishes through good communication. Please continue to stay in touch.
I was just diagnosed with malaria but good enough, we caught it very early. I just have to take pills for three days and it should be fine.
We will be going to Jinja tomorrow to get our stuff out of storage. Then return to Bush Fire permanently in a week. Right now we are staying in the guest house (it is round!). But the director had a meeting with us and assured us they are making every effort to build us a place to live. He even promised running water with a shower and flush toilet. I've learned, that here at Bush Fire, anything is possible!
